24 Hour of LeMons

“50% endurance race, 50% demolition derby. The 24 hour of LeMons (an obvious play on the 24 Hour of LeMans) is a unique race experience that pits frugal minded car tinkerers against each other in a heated battle for bragging rights. What exactly those brags would consist of, I still can’t imagine, but a 24 hour race against other $500 cars sounds like a blast win or lose.

A thoroughbred beast, this Isuzu I-Mark comes outfitted with a lotus tuned suspension and a 1.6I4 DOHC power plant. Sure, our 125hp may be laughable by modern sports car standards but in this competition of buckets, just completing the entire race is an achievement. Fun fact is that this car was designed by famous car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro; a designer who had his hand in a number of beautiful amazing machines (De Lorean, Lotus Esprit S1, Scirocco, etc) … maybe he was drunk when he made the I Mark?

Mechanical issues addressed, the final blessing comes from BG crew to paint this car in the style of modern masters. Day 1 of project Makeover My Bucket:”
